Post-doctoral Fellowship - Statistical Relationships of Fish Contaminants
through Time & Space

We are accepting applications for a post-doctoral research position working on
a collaborative project between the University of Toronto (Department of
Ecology and Evolutionary Biology
www.eeb.utoronto.ca<http://www.eeb.utoronto.ca>) and the Ontario Ministry of
the Environment and Climate Change (MOECC
http://www.ontario.ca/ministry-environment-and-climate-change). Research will
focus on fish contaminants in two designated Canadian "Areas of Concern" (AOC)
in the Great Lakes. The study will capitalize on the extensive sampling and
available data by MOECC that encompass several decades in duration, in order
to: assess changes in contaminant levels over the sampling period; how these
match relative to human health advisories and to non-AOC areas; and to publish
the findings in scientific journals. We are looking for individuals who have
suitable backgrounds from the areas such as fish contaminants, aquatic ecology,
and statistical analyses.

The post-doctoral position will be for a one-year period with a potential
renewal for a second year assuming suitable progress. Given the timing of the
available funding, we require the successful applicant to start no later than
March 1, 2016 and earlier is highly preferred. Remuneration will be $40,000/yr
plus associated benefits. Applications will be considered beginning October
9th, 2015 with qualified individuals being contacted for interviews by October
30th, 2015. Applicants must have a PhD and ideally a working background
knowledge of contaminants (e.g. Hg, PCBs), fish ecology and a strong
quantitative background. Applicants should submit a cover letter providing: an
overview of their research background and abilities; when they will be
available to start; and, the names and contact information for three
references. Please email your application package to both Don Jackson
([email protected]<mailto:[email protected]>
http://jackson.eeb.utoronto.ca/) and Satyendra Bhavsar
([email protected]<mailto:[email protected]>). Employment
as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Toronto is covered by the terms
of the CUPE 3902 Unit 5 Collective Agreement.
