ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF WILDLIFE BIOLOGY

The Department of Natural Resources and the Environment (NREN) at the
University of New Hampshire, Durham, invites applicants for a full-time (9
month) tenure track faculty position in Wildlife Biology at the Assistant
Professor rank. The position has an anticipated start date of August 2016.

We seek a wildlife biologist specializing in terrestrial vertebrates whose
research uses a combination of observational, experimental or molecular
approaches, and makes use of advances in spatial and statistical modeling to
address fundamental and applied questions in ecology. We encourage
applicants with expertise in the ecology and management of vertebrate
populations, habitat use, and animal movement, and those who integrate their
work into a broader ecosystem context. Preference will be given to
candidates whose research naturally crosses disciplinary lines and may
address questions of relevance to state and regional agencies.

The primary responsibilities of this position will be the development of a
productive and externally funded research program, effective mentoring of
graduate and undergraduate students, and teaching within the Wildlife and
Conservation Biology program. Teaching responsibilities may include
undergraduate courses in wildlife ecology, inventory and monitoring, or
population ecology. Graduate level courses consistent with the expertise of
the candidate and with departmental and college needs may also be developed.
Many courses in the Wildlife and Conservation Biology program have a strong
field component.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Wildlife Ecology, Conservation Biology, or
related field; the demonstrated potential to develop and lead a strong and
productive research program; and evidence of a commitment to undergraduate
teaching and training. The ability to communicate effectively with a broad
range of professionals in the fields of wildlife ecology and conservation
biology is important. Postdoctoral experience, university or agency-based,
is desirable.
