Applicants must have completed a Ph.D. Postdoctoral experience and research accomplishments related to the temperate biome are preferred qualifications. Applicants must clearly demonstrate a strong capacity to independently conduct research on the interaction between forest vegetation dynamics and water circulation within and between the soil, the hydrological and the atmospheric compartments. A capacity to integrate water dynamics at different spatial and temporal scales is an important qualification. Both in its training and in its research accomplishments, the applicant must demonstrate a solid understanding of the physiological, ecological and physical processes that control the flow of water between the biotic and abiotic compartments. The applicant is also expected to demonstrate excellent teaching abilities, to be able to supervise both undergraduate and graduate students, and to be committed to community outreach. In addition of having a strong publication record, the applicant must demonstrate its ability to readily develop a competitive research program that will contribute to the development of the Institute of Temperate Forest Science (ISFORT; isfort.uqo.ca). The successful candidate will be a highly motivated individual with the ability to work closely with other faculty members in developing the Département des sciences naturelles and to participate in the activities of the Institute of Temperate Forest Science, an applied research organization located in Ripon (Québec) dedicated to the multidisciplinary study of the temperate deciduous forest. The successful candidate will contribute to the promotion and visibility of the Institute, the Department and the University. Applicants must have a good working knowledge of written and spoken French at the time of the interview.
