Applications are invited for a tenure track assistant professor in the Department of Biology at Bradley University to begin August 2016. We seek a broadly trained individual that can contribute to the Biology major as well as to one of the oldest Environmental Science programs in the nation. Candidates must possess a Ph.D. in Geology, Earth Science, Environmental Science, Biology or related field, and have completed more than one year in a postdoctoral or comparable position. Preference will be given to candidates with a research focus or experience in sustainability, spatial geology, eco-informatics, or GIS. The new hire will be expected to establish a research program in collaboration with undergraduate or graduate students that leads to peer-reviewed publications and to seek funding for research as appropriate. The successful candidate will contribute to teaching contemporary courses in earth science, geology, and environmental science. The Department of Biology also will welcome the development of new courses in the new hire’s area of expertise. The successful candidate will be expected to teach at all levels in the undergraduate (majors and non-majors) and master’s curricula with an emphasis on high-quality instruction, commitment to active learning, and personalized attention to undergraduate students. Applicants must demonstrate a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching and research, and the promise of scholarly and pedagogical excellence in a liberal arts and sciences setting.
