Looking for an exciting internship opportunity in Los Angeles?

The Arroyo Seco Foundation <http://www.arroyoseco.org/> (ASF), is a Los
Angeles based environmental non-profit that is dedicated to preserving the
Los Angeles River Watershed. ASF recently established the Hahamongna
Cooperative Nursery <https://www.facebook.com/HahamongnaNursery/> in 2014
to collect and propagate native plants from seed and cuttings. The nursery
serves as a central location for education and nursery stock for habitat
restoration. ASF has also received a grant from Patagonia's World Trout
Initiative <http://www.patagonia.com/us/patagonia.go?assetid=32942> to
author a restoration plan to restore Rainbow Trout in the Arroyo Seco, a
crucial tributary of the Los Angeles River system.

We are currently seeking applications for interns from various backgrounds:

Ecology Interns (3): Will assist in the Patagonia Project. Skills that are
needed for the project require hiking ability into mountainous terrain to
survey for aquatic species. A qualified candidate will also have experience
using GPS and GIS technology to record habitat information. Basic plant ID
will also be a valuable skill. Equipment for the internship will be
provided by ASF and its project partners.

Environmental History Intern (1): This internship position will require
less field work. The intern will look through primary sources for flood
history of the Los Angeles River and Arroyo Seco. The intern will assist
ASF staff in developing a history of flood structures that will be used in
the habitat assessment in the Patagonia Project.

Environmental Engineering Intern (1): This intern position will work with
local engineers to assess dams in the Arroyo Seco and create a plan to
improve structures. This will also be used in the Patagonia Project.

Nursery Intern (3): This internship program will assist nursery operations.
Background in California flora is required. The program will also involve
hiking through rough terrain. A candidate will assist in propagating
vegetation and assisting ASF in carrying out restoration projects.

The internship period will be three months, with the possibility of
extending the program. Part time and full time commitments are acceptable.
Recent graduates are preferred, however, current graduate or undergraduate
students will be considered. Please contact me (phone or email) directly
for more details. To apply please email <da...@arroyoseco.org> a resume and
a brief statement of interest, and state which position you are interested
in and if seeking full time or part time. Candidates are strongly
encouraged to apply by June 5th to be considered.

Sincerely,

David
