The Farrior lab at the University of Texas at Austin is soliciting applications for two open Ph.D. student positions. This new research group provides many exciting opportunities to creatively develop novel research directions. Research in the Farrior lab focuses on understanding how the fundamental constraints on plants interact with the environment to produce variation in plant functional traits within ecological communities and across landscapes. This understanding is critical as environmental conditions for many ecosystems are shifting into novel configurations. For this reason, we often collaborate with earth system modelers to understand the implications of findings for the global carbon cycle and the pace of climate change. For more information on research projects and links to publications please see our website: https://sites.cns.utexas.edu/cfarrior.
Interested students should contact Dr. Caroline Farrior by email (cfarr...@austin.utexas.edu) with a CV (including GPA and GRE scores) and a short discussion of research interests. Formal applications will be submitted through the UT Austin, Ecology, Evolution and Behavior (https://cns.utexas.edu/eeb-graduate-program) or Plant Biology graduate programs (https://cns.utexas.edu/plantbio-graduate-program). Both programs provide excellent support and are the home to an impressive set of students. Applications are due December 1, 2016.
