PhD Assistantship at CSU: Human-Black Bear Conflicts & Dynamics Job Description: The successful applicant will focus on understanding interactions between black bears and humans in Northwestern New Jersey, the state with the highest densities of both black bears and humans in the US. Research will be conducted in collaboration with the New Jersey Division of Fish and Wildlife and Bear Trust International and will involve integrated analyses of several long-term datasets on black bear demography, space use, and records of human-bear conflicts.
Minimum Qualifications: M.S. related to wildlife biology, ecology, or related fields. Undergraduate GPA > 3.5, Quantitative and Verbal GRE percentile scores > 70% (or international equivalent). Competitive applicants will have experience collecting, analyzing, presenting field data, working collaboratively with agency and academic scientists, and strong interests in developing and applying quantitative population and spatial models. Preference will be given to students with a proven publication record. Where: The Aubry lab hosted at Colorado State University in the Department of Fish, Wildlife and Conservation Biology (Warner School of Natural Resources). Note that the Aubry lab will be moving from Utah State University to Colorado State University in July 2017. Start date: August 16th 2017 (negotiable). Last date to apply: April 15th 2017.
