Description of Duties:  Under general supervision of the Region 5, Sector 8 
Field Supervisor, the Nuisance Wildlife Technician will be responsible for 
providing field support for the nuisance wildlife program. Primary duties 
include capturing and immobilizing nuisance wildlife, transporting and 
releasing wildlife and assisting in educating the public about nuisance 
wildlife. Additional duties will include responding to nuisance wildlife 
reports, operate, maintain and repair a variety of specialized bear trapping 
equipment, obtains immobilization drug handling certification and operates 
immobilization drug delivery equipment. Response to nuisance wildlife calls may 
require evening, night, and early morning work availability.

This position will collect and summarize human and wildlife conflict data, 
provides office support for the program and/or project need and assists in 
development of public outreach information and reports. Maintains human and 
wildlife conflict data bases and documents immobilization drug use and 
inventory records. Conducts day to day operations and maintenance of department 
facilities and wildlife areas as directed, maintains equipment according to 
prescribed schedules and maintains fences, water systems, etc. This position 
will provide field support for the program and/or project, collects and records 
wildlife and/or habitat data and assists in wildlife captures and releases and 
planting of wildlife crops and control of invasive vegetation. Performs other 
duties as assigned. The project timeline is to start by late August and not to 
exceed 6 months.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: The candidate must have knowledge of: general 
knowledge of habitat and wildlife field investigation, management and 
conservation techniques, species identification requirements in particular to 
birds by sight but in in general for all Arizona wildlife, plants and habitats, 
scientific data collection procedures, basic statistical analysis techniques, 
and variety of field sampling methods.

The preferred candidate will have a bachelor's degree in a wildlife science or 
closely related field and knowledge and skills pertaining to accepted wildlife 
capture and handling techniques.

Employment is contingent upon completion of a post-offer medical/physical

Position requires possession of and the ability to retain a current, valid 
state-issued driver's license appropriate to the assignment.  Employees who 
drive on state business are subject to driver's license record checks, must 
maintain acceptable driving records and must complete any required driver 
training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12.).
