The 2017 Annual Conference of the SER – Southwest Chapter will be held
December  6 – 8 in Albuquerque, NM at the Hotel Albuquerque. The Chapter is
currently seeking a local conference intern to assist in preparation for and
running of the 2017 Conference. 
 
Internship Description
During the weeks and months leading up to the conference, the student intern
will work independently 5 – 10 hours per week to:
• update the conference website with information provided as details are
confirmed
• solicit local businesses and other groups for conference sponsorships and
raffle items
• assist with conference outreach and publicity
• other organizational tasks as assigned
The intern will coordinate work weekly or bi-weekly with the Conference Chair.

The student intern will also attend the conference and assist with all
aspects of meeting facilitation, including:
• participant registration
• setting up and organizing the poster session
• break-out session moderation
• field trip logistics
• set up and take down

Requirements
The conference intern should be a well-organized, effective communicator.
Must complete assigned tasks promptly and be able to accurately work with
conference organizers to update the website and other communications. Must
be available to attend and work at the conference December 6 – 8, 2017. 
Preference will be given to students local to northern New Mexico. The
intern will report to the Conference Chair and the President of the Chapter
and submit monthly reports of hours worked for payment.

Compensation and Benefits
The intern will be considered an independent contractor and will be paid an
hourly rate of $15. The intern’s conference registration fees will be
waived. The period of work will be approximately mid-August through
mid-December 2017.
