Assistant Professor of Biology (Microbiology) (Tenure-track)

The Department of Biology and Geology at the University of South Carolina Aiken 
(web.usca.edu/biology<http://www.usca.edu/biogeo>) seeks applications for a 
full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Biology. Start date: August 16, 
2018. Required: Ph.D. in microbiology or related field, commitment to 
excellence in teaching, proven research and publication record commensurate 
with career level, ability to develop a laboratory-based research program that 
includes mentoring undergraduate research.  Preferred: Postdoctoral experience, 
teaching experience at undergraduate level, record of continuous scholarly 
activity, strong interest in teaching and research at a small comprehensive 
liberal arts institution.  Primary teaching responsibilities will include 
undergraduate courses in microbiology and a specialty area within the biology 
major, as well as microbiology for Allied Health majors.  The successful 
candidate will be expected to develop an active research program that includes 
mentoring of undergraduate research projects.  The department has a history of 
funded research and places a high value on undergraduate research.
