The Department of Biology at the University of West Georgia will be
offering a 9-day Tropical Biology course in Belize from May 21-29, 2018.
_Program Description_:
Belize will be the backdrop of multi-day field excursions to visit the
middle reaches of a watershed, a pine savannah, tropical forest, the
headwater region of multiple watersheds, and an island in a barrier
reef. Students will follow the flow of water from its source, through
the rivers, to estuaries, and finally to the crystal clear waters of the
Caribbean Sea. The culture of Belize will be explored by eating
authentic meals, visiting Mayan ruins and villages, and conversing with
local Belizeans. Students will learn about evaluating information and
sources to make informed decisions and act as globally responsible
citizens and travelers. This course is offered in partnership with
Monkey Bay Wildlife Sanctuary.
*Open to students at any college/university, in any major. *
