A postdoctoral position is available in the Blum Lab (www.tulane.edu/~mjblum, http://eeb.bio.utk.edu/people/michael-j-blum/) to support DoD-funded collaborative research on the control of aquatic invasive species (AIS) in Hawaiian Island streams (https://www.serdp- estcp.org/Program-Areas/Resource-Conservation-and-Resiliency/Natural- Resources/Pacific-Island-Ecology-and-Management/RC-2447). The incumbent will be expected to contribute to studies of aquatic community responses to AIS control under varying surface flow regimes that fall within a broader portfolio of work on genomic, life history, population, and ecosystem conditions. The incumbent will be expected to assist with the analysis of data from long-term, field-based studies as well as the preparation of reports, articles, and associated project deliverables. In addition to contributing to the project described above, the incumbent will be encouraged to pursue other, complementary research. The incumbent will be mentored by the project PI, Dr. Michael Blum, and both project Co-PIs, Dr. J. Derek Hogan (Texas A&M – Corpus Christi), and Dr. Peter McIntyre (University of Wisconsin – Madison, Cornell University). Candidates are being sought with: (1) strong statistical and programming skills, preferably with experience in R; (2) demonstrated research excellence; and (3) strong oral and written communication skills. Preference will be given to applicants whose research interests and expertise complement the research project but outstanding applicants looking to broaden their field of interest will also be seriously considered. A PhD in Ecology, Conservation Biology, or a related field is required. An initial appointment will be for one year, with continuation for at least one additional year dependent upon performance. The position is available immediately, with a preferred start date of late spring or early summer 2018. Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
