The Environmental Data Initiative (EDI) will celebrate the opening of the Information Management Code Registry with a hackathon in Albuquerque, NM, June 12 – 14, 2018.
The IM Code Registry will be a community maintained resource that catalogs a wide range of code addressing common procedures that environmental information managers encounter when organizing, cleaning, manipulating, documenting, and archiving data sets. In this inaugural hackathon, we will 1) co-develop code specifically targeting the data cleaning process and QA/QC. 2) archive existing code that participants bring to the hackathon. We will also discuss organization of the Registry, best practices for publishing code, and possible Registry governance/maintenance approaches. Through this hackathon, we aim to build a community that supports the idea of sharing code and enabling information managers to work more efficiently. For more information see here. Hackers and wannabe hackers are invited to apply. Costs of travel, lodging, and meals will be covered by EDI. To apply, please fill out the Google form at the below address.
