The Cadenasso Landscape and Urban Ecology Lab at UC Davis, Department of Plant Sciences, seeks a Research Data Analyst to work on an interdisciplinary project investigating whether green infrastructure is a benefit or a burden for underserved communities in Baltimore, Maryland. Within this overarching goal, the GIS Analyst will be responsible for detailed mapping of existing green infrastructure and classifying the Baltimore study region using the HERCULES land cover classification developed in the lab. It is expected that the successful candidate could work with a variety of data and data types to uncover spatially explicit relationships between green infrastructure and other infrastructural features of the urban fabric and the social-demographic context in neighborhoods that contrast in wealth and environmental conditions. The Analyst will work closely with the Principal Investigator (Cadenasso), a Post-Doctoral Researcher, and undergraduate employees and interns located at UC Davis, as well as with members of the larger collaborative team located in the eastern U.S. The successful applicant is expected to generate high quality mapping products for reports, publications, and presentations and maintain and organize the database; s/he will also be expected to engage with collaborators, handle data sharing and be able to articulate the goals of the research project to a wide range of audiences, including academic and local community groups. The Analyst will be considered a full member of the Cadenasso lab and as such be expected to be an active member of a vibrant intellectual community preparing for and attending lab meetings and providing critical feedback to other projects occurring in the lab. Applicants may contact the PI, Mary Cadenasso (mlcadena...@ucdavis.edu), for additional questions.
