The Department of Biology invites applications for a tenure-track appointment at the rank
of Assistant Professor of Biology with a focus in aquatic ecology to begin in fall 2019.
Applicants should have a Ph.D., postdoctoral experience or its equivalent, and a
demonstrated commitment to excellence in both teaching and research. The successful
candidate will be expected to teach at the introductory level (ecology and evolution), upper
level aquatic ecology, biological statistics, and an upper level discipline-specific course.
The candidate will occasionally contribute to Middlebury’s First Year Seminar Program and
Winter Term course offerings. The successful candidate is also expected to establish an
active research program with aspects that are adaptable, but not necessarily exclusive, to
the Northeast. The department is especially interested in candidates who can contribute
to the growing diversity and excellence of the academic community through their teaching,
scholarship, and service. Demonstration of evidence-based inclusive pedagogy,
mentoring, and advising a diverse population of students is essential.
Middlebury College uses Interfolio to collect all faculty job applications electronically.
Email and paper applications will not be accepted. At Middlebury, we strive to make our
campus a respectful, engaged community that embraces difference, with all the
complexity and individuality each person brings. In your application materials, please
address how your teaching, scholarship, mentorship and/or community service might
support our commitment to diversity and inclusion. Through Interfolio, submit a letter of
application addressed to Dr. Steve Trombulak, Aquatic Ecologist Search Committee Chair,
