The Department of Sustainability and Environment at the University of South Dakota is recruiting an Assistant Professor (tenure track) in sustainability focused on the human dimensions of coupled human-environmental (social-ecological) systems to begin in August 2019. We seek candidates with interdisciplinary training and expertise in ecological economics, ecosystem services, or spatial modeling. The successful candidate's research will complement that of the existing faculty including faculty in and affiliated with the Department of Sustainability and Environment<https://www.usd.edu/sustainability> and the Missouri River Institute<http://www.usd.edu/missouri-river-institute>.
The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to establish a productive and extramurally funded research program that actively trains M.S. and Ph.D. students in the new graduate program<https://www.usd.edu/arts-and-sciences/sustainability/graduate> in sustainability. The candidate will teach existing core courses in the undergraduate and graduate sustainability degrees in addition to developing elective courses within their area of specialization. A Ph.D. in sustainability, sustainable development, environmental science, or a related field is required, and postdoctoral experience is preferred.
