*SCA 2019 Youth Trail Crew Leader Positions Announced* Interested in taking care of the land while educating the next generation of conservation leaders? Join the Student Conservation Association (SCA) as a Seattle Youth Trail Crew Leader in 2019! The SCA already anticipates 200+ leader positions for the summer and school year of 2019 - both in the Seattle area and throughout the rest of the country.
Benefits: $15/hour, paid leadership and work-skills training, breakfast and lunch included, the opportunity to work outside every day! Location:Seattle, WA Program Dates: December 2018 - May 2019 Mandatory Paid Training Dates:December 7th, 8th & 9th Schedule: Part-time, up to 20-30 hours/month Qualifications: • Must have proven experience working with youth, preferably in an outdoor/ team-based or teaching setting • Must have strong interest in working with and mentoring urban youth • Outdoor living skills, and experience with conservation work • Proven ability to manage complex logistics in an organized fashion • Fluency/proficiency in a second language highly desirable • Must have ability to legally work in the US • Valid driver’s license for 3+ years and MVR that meets SCA standards required • Ability to meet SCA’s criminal background check standards • Ability to perform manual, physical labor for up to 8 hours per day, exposed to the elements and must occasionally lift and/or move 40 pounds or more • Must be at least 21 years old. • Must be able to attend mandatory Crew Leader training: December 7th-9th • Must possess current First Aid and CPR certifications, Wilderness First Aid preferred • Must have personal housing arrangements in program city Primary Responsibilities: • Co-lead field based projects, such as trail building, invasive removal and habitat restoration • Teach environmental education curriculum • Mentor youth in job readiness and personal development • Create a fun and productive atmosphere for crew members To Apply: Visit http://thesca.force.com/members to create a profile, complete the basic application and then select the Leader Application when prompted.
