The Department of Biological Sciences at Arkansas State University-Jonesboro is 
seeking applicants for a full-time, tenure-track position in environmental 
science / phycology at the Assistant Professor level, commencing in the Fall of 
2019. A Ph.D. in biology or a related field is required, and post-doctoral 
research is preferred. The successful candidate is expected to contribute to 
the teaching, research, and service of the department, which currently has 
approx. 500 undergraduate majors and 50 graduate students. Moreover, 
involvement with the graduate programs (MS and Ph.D.) of Environmental Science 
and/or Molecular Biosciences is expected.  The successful candidate will 
develop an independent and externally funded research program involving algal 
research in freshwater or freshwater and marine environments which should 
include applied questions involving pollution of waterways, impacts of climate 
and/or land-use change. Skilled teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate 
level in areas of environmental biology, toxicology, ecology, botany, and data
