AAG 2011 Sessions

11766 Thünian Thought Today
Allison Brown (U. Mass.) <[email protected]>

I am trying to revitalize the North American Branch of the International
Thünen Society. To this end I would like to invite geographers interested in
modern interpretations of location theory and regional science to
participate in a panel discussion at AAG2011.

As an example, much of my work is concentrated within the theoretical
boundaries of the Freie Wirtschaft, the Free Cropping Zone where market
gardening is the best agriculture use of land. I use a modified ring diagram
to explain globalization of agriculture markets when I lecture.

I would like to hear from others who appreciate the continued usefulness of
Thünen's insights.
