(Apologies for X-posting)* *Dear Extended Antipode Family,
As many of you begin to plan your 2013 AAG Meeting schedule, we at *Antipode * wanted to be sure you all knew that Dr. Christian Parenti will be giving this year’s *Antipode Lecture *entitled “Climate Violence Now” (see details below)*.* For those of you who might not yet know Dr. Parenti, he is a Professor at the School for International Training Graduate Institute. He is the author of numerous books, and his latest is *Tropic of Chaos: Climate Change and the New Geography of Violence* (2011, Verso). His articles have appeared in *Fortune*, *The Washington Post*, *The New York Times*, *Middle East Report*, *London Review of Books*, and *The Nation* (where he is a contributing editor). After Dr. Parenti’s talk we are happy to announce the First Annual *Antipode Groove Fest*, which will be part reception (as usual) and part groovalicious opportunity for you to shake your groove thing to the sweet funky sounds being spun by DJ Mod and DJ Cornbread. In an effort to prefigure some radical democracy, if you want to bring a funky, soulful, or otherwise rad record (LP or 45), DJ Mod and DJ Cornbread will try to play a track from it. We all hope to see you all there! Very best, Antipode Editorial Collective * * ** *------------------------- Paper Session:* *2625 The 2013 Antipode Lecture: 'Climate Violence Now'* is scheduled on Wednesday, 4/10/2013, from 4:40 PM - 6:20 PM in Emerald Bay, Westin, Level 3 *Organizer(s):* Sharad Chari<http://meridian.aag.org/callforpapers/program/ParticipantDetail.cfm?IMISID=20003514> * *- University of the Witwatersrand Nik Heynen<http://meridian.aag.org/callforpapers/program/ParticipantDetail.cfm?IMISID=09601147>- University of Georgia *Chair(s):* Sharad Chari<http://meridian.aag.org/callforpapers/program/ParticipantDetail.cfm?IMISID=20003514>- University of the Witwatersrand *4:40 PM* *Author(s):* *Christian Parenti, PhD - School For International Training Abstract Title: *Climate Violence Now*<http://meridian.aag.org/callforpapers/program/AbstractDetail.cfm?AbstractID=55055>
