An award in the amount of $200 will be provided to a graduate student (M.A. or Ph.D.) who provides a single-authored, original paper dealing with development studies, development geography, or geographic research in a developing country. The paper needs to be presented at the AAG Annual Meeting in 2014 but does not need to be part of a DGSG-sponsored session. Paper submissions will be evaluated by Directors of the specialty group and the winner will be announced in advance of the Annual Meeting. In order to be considered, students need to send an electronic copy of their paper by January 13, 2014 to Dr. Farhana Sultana, DGSG Chair at <mailto:[email protected]> [email protected]. DGSG Student Travel Award: The Developing Geographies Specialty Group (DGSG) is seeking papers for the 2014 Gary Gaile Travel Award. An award in the amount of $200 will be given to a graduate student conducting preliminary fieldwork for a research project on development-related themes. Candidates should submit a two-page proposal that summarizes the project and its significance, a list of references cited in the proposal, and a CV. Proposal submissions will be evaluated by Directors of the specialty group and the winner will be announced in advance of the Annual Meeting. In order to be considered, students need to send an electronic copy of their proposal by January 13, 2014 to Dr. Farhana Sultana, DGSG Chair at <mailto:[email protected]> [email protected]. Sponsorship for sessions at AAG conference: The DGSG is happy to sponsor sessions at the 2014 AAG that are broadly related to any issue within the breadth of development geography. In order to obtain sponsorship, please contact Dr. Farhana Sultana, Chair of DGSG, at [email protected]. Once approved, the session will obtain greater exposure as a DGSG sponsored session. Organizers should select DGSG as a sponsor when registering their session on the AAG website (Specialty Groups are not able to undertake this task).
