Thanks Andy >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Local and Regional Development MA Programmes Centre for Urban and Regional Development Studies (CURDS) Newcastle University Our MA taught courses put you at the forefront of the ever-changing landscape of local and regional development. They equip you to take up roles that will help shape agendas, strategies and policies in the public, private and civic sectors. Local and regional development is undergoing a period of unprecedented change. New debates are changing the nature of local and regional development processes, institutions and policies. Issues include the knowledge-intensive economy, (de)globalization, social and spatial inequalities, competitiveness, inclusion, innovation, resilience, sustainability, and wellbeing. International trends are changing institutional structures of government and governance at the national, regional, sub-regional, urban and local levels. International trends are pushing towards decentralisation and regionalism, city-regionalism, metropolitanism, and localism. Emergent concerns are focusing the minds of local and regional policy-makers including the aftermath of the global financial crisis, economic downturn and recovery, economic populism and nationalism, geo-political-economic shifts (Brexit, Trump), and the reorganisation of economic development and regeneration strategies, institutions and policies. These uncertain and volatile circumstances are driving demand for analysis, strategy and policy-making for local and regional development to confront such challenges. Courses The CURDS MA programmes connect directly and provide a means of interpreting and responding to these emerging agendas.
