Assistant Professor in Human Geography: Economic or Political

The Department of Geography at the University of Florida, College of Liberal 
Arts and Sciences, invites applications for a full-time, nine-month, 
tenure-accruing position, at the level of Assistant Professor to begin August 
16, 2019. The department seeks an outstanding candidate with expertise in Human 
Geography, more specifically the areas of Economic or Political Geography, who 
will complement existing strengths in the department and across campus. While 
we welcome candidates from a broad range of specializations, we especially 
encourage applications from candidates whose scholarly work critically engages 
with topics such as Globalization, International Trade and Monetary Flows, 
Immigration and Labor Markets, Spatial Economics, Global Production Networks, 
World Systems Theory, and Global Cities. Priority will be given to candidates 
with expertise in quantitative methods. Potential to engage in 
interdisciplinary collaboration with the University’s research centers and 
institutes e.g., African Studies, Latin American Studies, is considered 
advantageous.

Primary responsibilities include high-quality research in Economic or Political 
Geography and a 2-2 teaching assignment, particularly developing introductory 
and advanced courses at both undergraduate and graduate levels. The successful 
applicant must be able to teach Economic Geography and Global & Regional 
Economies. Applicants should have a strong record of research and scholarly 
activities within these broad fields; experience and demonstrated commitment to 
excellence in teaching; and a proven ability to communicate effectively with 
students, professionals, and the general public. Additionally, potential to
