Yesterday's New York Times had an article about the rise in the price of propane and quoted a retired Iowa construction worker who "got shafted" and could no longer  heat his dream retirement home{ with soaring cathedral ceiling and walls of windows}  with a quadrupling of the price of propane on his fixed income.  He guessed he would  have to sell and build something smaller, but said it was good while it lasted.

I am in fear of my next fill up.  The last one about 3 weeks ago was $2.219 a gal.  We use propane for DHW, space heating, and cooking.  I have cut back all I can and we are looking into solar DHW.  My wife refuses to consider an outside clothes line.

I have a friend who works at a gas fired generator and keeps me up on the latest NG prices.  Propane is made from NG and at one time this month NG was selling for $7.139 therm which translates to about the same in Propane.  The pretender in the white house should expect some really nice donations next time around.
