I have also enjoyed the comments on gardening. I also consider it to be a
form of personal protest. While protest usually imvolves protested agtainst
something that we disapprove, gardening is a positve act which contributes
something to the earth in the process. At least if it is by way organic
gardening.

I consider gardening to be therapy. I work in a library and deal with
papers, books and other abstract manifestations. Gardening is concrete.
When I am working in my yard, I can go off in my own world and forget about
the current events of the day.

I am proud that in the little square of earth the I take care of I have been
able to add some measure of health to its soil. This is a good feeling.
Perhaps it is the only place where i can practice some of my ideals about
living carefully on the planet.
