If it were my system, in my shutdown scripts, I would first kill all user processes that might have open file handles on dentries under the /home eCryptfs mount, then I would kill ecryptfsd, then I would umount /home, and then I would continue on with the other shutdown tasks. Until all of this transparent encrypted home directory stuff gets integrated into a distro somewhere, you're sort of a trailblazer. Mike
