direct support ?

Hello,

In the top page of jakarta-ECS

... it directly supports HTML 4.0 and XML,... 


But, ECS 1.4.1 support HTML,JSP,RTF,VXML,WML,XHTML,XML.

What's mean 'directly' support ?
