Many years ago I worked on the the Legal and Audit Task Group of the ASC X12
Steering Committee which developed a comprehensive EDI/EDP Audit
Model/Guide. The current description of this guide is:
Model EDI Audit Guide
Description: Members of the electronic commerce community now have a
standard by which they can set up a consistent audit procedure when
implementing EDI. The Audit Guide addresses transmission controls,
translation software controls, information security controls, and usage of
legal agreements regarding EDI. The program provides a set of guidelines for
evaluating control issues that are unique to EDI and is meant to be used as
an addendum to, rather than as a substitute for, existing application audit
programs.
This may be of some help as you prepare for your internal audit. It can be
purchased from DISA, the secretariat for the ASC X12 Committee from their
web site at http://www.disa.org.
