I have a client in the Health Care Insurance Industry currently using a
'conventional' EDI translator/mapper (Trading Partner/MVS) to receive 837
Claim/Encounter documents (several variations) and send 837 (for COB) and
835 Remittance Advice documents. They will be adding a couple of documents
for an eligibility application and are considering "going ANSI" for claim
status and possibly offering support for the 816 Organizational
Relationships document for provider "chains."

Anyway, they are in the process of replacing their current private VAN
software with a VAN software product from Muscato (http://www.muscato.com).
When that is done, the client wants to take a hard look at the EDI
translation software.

Muscato has claimed that they can handle all the ANSI translation and
mapping; and in fact as provided some user names with some pretty fair
references. But for as long as I have worked with ANSI/EDIFACT EDI (since
1983), I have never heard the Muscato name associated with EDI. The web site
listed above gives some standard marketing spiel about a couple of ANSI EDI
documents; but I cannot find any more material in the trade press, web
search engines or from any of my "EDI-literate" colleagues.

Does anyone have any experience with this firm? Positive/Negative/Neutral?
