E-COMMERCE STANDARDS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER

General Description:
The E-Commerce Standards Development Manager provides technical guidance to
various client initiatives, including: OpenTravel Alliance (OTA),
Interactive Financial Exchange Forum (IFX Forum), Hotel Electronic
Distribution Network Association (HEDNA), Mortgage Bankers Association's
Mortgage Industry Standards Maintenance Organization (MISMO) and XML/EDI
Group. This position serves as a resource to committee and work group
chairs and facilitates their work in support of a successful and consistent
approach and methodology for developing XML DTDs and Schema. The incumbent
attends committee and work group meetings, documents meeting notes,
decisions, and action items and reports to the Director, EC Collaborative
Services.

Responsibilities:
1. Defines business requirements and facilitates the transfer of XML
technology expertise to business professionals
2. Ensures a consistent approach in developing message specifications and
defining data terms in building XML Document Type Definitions (DTDs) and
schemas
3. Captures business processes and data relationships in recognized models
for translation into technical specifications
4. Documents specification proposals and approvals, by establishing a log,
and developing a database of issues and comments
5. Assumes responsibility for version control, updating, and maintenance
procedures
6. Translates technical knowledge into understandable language for use in
practical business applications

Qualifications:
Candidates must have a bachelors degree in a technical or business
discipline with a focus on structured document markup languages or the
World Wide Web and familiar with the current XML technology and practices
to facilitate electronic commerce.

A solid understanding of markup languages, and Web authoring and modeling
software desired. Experience in process modeling, logical semantic
organization, interchange transaction and data element identification and
tagging, and requirements analysis skills a plus. Excellent writing and
speaking skills desired.
