Lanny Durham, of AppNet, Inc., asked if anyone could direct him "towards
information regarding the percentage of Fortune 2000 companies using
EDI? About overall EDI usage?"

This question has been asked a million times, usually to provide filler
in some puff-piece, report, justification or presentation. Lanny may as
well use the same shop-worn stats everyone else uses, assuming we can
trust these guys named Forrester and Morgan:

Indeed, while 95% of the Fortune 1,000 are using EDI, according
to Forrester, there are 6 million businesses in the U.S., and
only 2% of them are using EDI.

By Forrester's estimate, about 100,000 companies currently use
EDI, a mere five percent of those that could benefit from the
   technology.

   ...according to J. P. Morgan, 98 % of all non Fortune 1,000
   companies do not use EDI

Just change the percentages and numbers (you know, FORTUNE 500, 1000,
2000, what's the difference?) to suit your needs. So much of this stuff
floats around that they've become urban legends.
