Hi All,
Ariba has another version of XML which is called cXML. It looks very much
like x12, as far as structure is concern.

Currently there is no single set of XML standards for EDI transactions in
the same way as ANSI X12 or UN/EDIFACT are defined.

There are a number of initiatives currently underway to define business
transactions in XML syntax. Some of the better known ones are :

ebXML - a joint effort between Oasis and UN/CEFACT (see
http://www.ebxml.org/) - in my humble opinion the one most likely to
succeed in defining truly global 'EDI-like standards'

Rosettanet - a joint effort in the IT supply chain industry (see
http://www.rosettanet.org/)

CommerceOne - an initiative defining xCBL (Common Business Library) - (see
http://www.commerceone.com/xml/index.html)

Bolero - a joint effort between SWIFT and TTClub (see
http://www.bolero.net/boleroxml/introduction/)

It's really a matter of watching and waiting to see if the truly global
standards emerge at the same time as keeping an eye on appropriate
developments in your specific industry.

Kind Regards,

Subject: EDI and XML standards

I am a little confused about the XML EDI. Does there exist a standard for
the XML DTD to represent the EDI document? If so where can I get this
standard? If not, how far away is this being accomplished or is even?
Thanks. DF.
