A further point to bear in mind is that Application Integrator has a somewhat
manual, but extremely flexible, loop control method; the product's learning
curve is longer than Gentran's because less is done transparently. However AI
provides the capability to model (almost) any flatfile format. Should you
have legacy ('sub' in SAPspeak) systems with 'interesting' file formats
communicating with SAP this can be very useful.
Also remember that certification, whilst expensive to obtain, doesn't really
mean such a great deal. I'd suggest that you ask GXS and Sterling for
reference sites and review the effort required to integrate their products
end to end.
