There are a couple of things that I would check:
1. That the system data store share is still active. This can be checked by
going to start, run, and typing in the name of your system data store, i.e.
\\machinename\sharename (usually gensrvnt).
2. If you're using Oracle, you need to be operating in a standard security
mode. You can check this in the configurations under the security tab.
3. If you're deleting many documents at a time or a particularly large
document, the query is probably timing out because of the volume. Try
deleting one (small one) at a time and see if you get the same error.
4. Your database and file system may be overloaded. All of the neat new
cross-reference functionality between EDI and app files only makes it more
important to keep the database "clean". Archive as often as possible. Make
sure that you are taking advantage of the directory format setting that
allows division based on the hour. Purge your audit log messages often from
the configurations audit log tab. The mailboxing system should be set to
purge old messages and communication logs automatically and the default 30
day setting generally isn't good enough. I have seen, however, that the
purges will time out and then the database just gets more and more bogged
down. You can verify this in the GENTRAN audit log, the NT application
event viewer and in the database audit log. This must be corrected from
within NT and it is a slow and painful process where troubleshooting will
tell you how far back to set the purge so that it will be successful and the
job is run over and over working forward from that point until the purge
will be successful at the time interval you want to permanently set it at (I
recommend 7 days).
