Hi All,

Sorry to fill up your e-mail but I tried sending this to just the TLE
list unsuccessfully.

Thanks,
Cindy

Subject: User exit help-unix scripting

Hi,

I am struggling with writing a simple user exit script which will take
a string and return only the numbers contained within it. I am hoping that
someone will help me out, our Unix specialist is out for a couple of days
and I've tried everything.

     Here is my example:

I am storing "CR/APPR#19450000" into a field called APPROVE
I am then calling a user exit, approval, which uses that field
I am hoping to get back "19450000" but keep getting the whole
field back.

I only need the 8 digit approval code. It is not always started in the
same position, thus I found it impossible to do it within the map itself so
thought I would take advantage of the user exit option. If someone could
please give me a hint as to what the command should look like in Unix, I
would be MOST APPRECIATIVE!!!!

Thanks,
Cindy

p.s. I'm on TLE4.2, Solaris 2.6
