Here is how I proceed;
* I list the best providers (VAN or s/w)
* I pre-select the ones that meet my selection criteria
* I ask for a presentation.
* I ask for references (this list can be great for that)
* Then I keep the 3 best ones
* I ask for a quotation
* After receiving quotations I make sure I can compare apple with
apple...
* I give one last chance to the suppliers to revise their quotations
* I select the best (price/quality)
* And I hope for the best...
Unfortunately, even if you select the best provider for your needs and you
have good references, it does not guaranty that the provider will continue
to deliver quality of products or services in the future (based on personal
experiences)
