ASC X12 supports Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) standards in X12, EDIFACT and XML syntax. One of X12's most active subcommittees is the Insurance Subcommittee (X12N). The X12 Insurance Subcommittee is chartered to develop and maintain EDI transactions, UN/EDIFACT messages, standards interpretations and guidelines as they relate to all aspects of insurance and insurance related business processes.
