I don't see that happening.

My understanding is as follows:
Each RFID tag has a unique ID number, in addition to all the other stuff stored 
inside.  I'm not sure how long the ID is, but lets assume 50 characters.

All the other information in the Tag, is for the Retailer to use.  The company 
that issued the tag already has all the information encoded inside that tag, so 
that the only thing they need back is the Unique tag ID.

That's an increase of 30 characters per tag (assuming a 50 character unique 
ID).  

Unless I really don't understand this, the problem is with the equipment that 
has to read the tags at the retailer.  Not with what gets sent via EDI.
