Major outage since Sunday morning, here is from latest update:
Outage Update
GXS Client Services
April 4, 2005, 8:00 am EDT
GXS Team,
At 3:30am ET on Sunday Morning, the primary storage area network system
that supports many of GXSâ Trading Grid messaging and application services
experienced a severe outage, caused by water seepage resulting from
unusual high-winds, heavy rains and thunderstorms. The outage affected
a portion of our Class-A SAS-70 hardened data center located outside
Cleveland, Ohio. The services affected included Interchange Services
(ICS), Managed Services / Service Center, and Order Lifecycle Visibility.
GXS engineering teams and support personnel from the storage area network
equipment vendor immediately began coordinating efforts towards full
problem resolution upon identification of the outage. All teams
immediately began performing assessments, system integrity maintenance and
hardware replacement. All information stored in the storage area network
was backed-up on tape media.
Sunday afternoon, the entire storage systems and application
infrastructure was tested and powered down to facilitate a manual
inspection of equipment. Storage components were replaced to ensure a
secure environment for our customersâ service. Early Sunday evening, the
power down enabled a sequential restart of all systems. After a complete
power-down of all equipment, physical inspection by GXS and our storage
area network vendor EMC, found no remaining issues. As of 7:00pm ET the
storage area network has begun start-up cycling, however, continuous
manual intervention by engineers was required through early this early
this morning including a number of modifications by EMC. We expect EMC to
turn the system over to GXS by 10:00 am EDT this morning. GXS engineers
will then perform restoration work that will last a minimum of two hours.
A complete restart of affected services will begin at the earliest at
12:00 EDT noon. In the meantime we will continue to send status reports.
GXS is preparing a complete event synopsis and post-mortem. The details
of the analysis will be available to all affected customers and will
detail further preventive actions that the company will take to prevent a
repeat occurrence.
As of 7:00 am ET last night, 189 inquiries into Client Services were
received. If you have customer inquiries, please direct them to

customer service on their behalf.
