to answer some of these issues, based on a mercator to wm conversion that i've been doing ....
1. unfortunately no. you're going to have to take a step back, gap all of your maps, and remap from scratch in wm. hopefully you'll find along the way some commonalities - as we did - that will allow you to combine some maps and normalize processes. 2. our volumes were so small that we were wondering how management justified replacing an expensive installation that wasn't a year old with another even more expensive.solution. and a cost of two man-years of services to install. 3. probably, depending on how you use wm. if you replace translator for translator, no. but you'll be tempted to smooth processes and integrate services ... or replace old cobol code with nice integrated java. now that i've said all that ... the word on the street is that installing tn is a bear, and running tn as a translator in another environment presents all sorts of new challenges. we're all used to running in a protected space, and you don't get that here (or can't afford it.) you just don't "reboot the box" at the first sign of trouble. the cost of consulting services is high, and the supply is not plentiful. it's a very expensive process to install and run. and, since the common method of operations is to shield wm and tn from the operations and edi staffs, very frustrating to run. and the design of tn leaves a lot to be desired compared to other products from other vendors. jonnalagadda suresh wrote: >Can somebody help me on migration from Gentran Basic >on Mainframe to webMethods on Windows?
