>Would there be any one in here using mercator?

Lots. But there is a Yahoo!(r) Group specific to Mercator/DataStageTX/Websphere
group named Mercator_EDI. You 'might' get better
answers to Mercator-specific questions there. More general ANSI/EDIFACT EDI
questions might get better/more answers here.

>I am using map designer 6.5, would there be any way to generate sample
>data from a created type tree in mercator?

No. Mercator (the former name) does not have any 'generate data' facilities at
all. You'll have to get your test data the
old-fashioned ways, by finding some or making it up using notepad or something.

>and also are there any sites that links to fabricated type trees or
>sample data for UN / EDIFACT 05b?

I have rarely seen any type trees posted anywhere but Mercator/Webspere (this
week's name) does have UN/EDIFACT Type Trees
available. Contact their sales department for info. Sample data... same rules
as above... but you should be able to find test
UN/EDIFACT data all over the Internet.. 99% of the companies who publish an
implementation guide include "sample transactions" in
those guides.

>I am quite new to EDI.

I think you are also quite new to Mercator/DataStage TX/Websphere. Am I close?
