Subject: RE: [EDI-L] reg qualifier
Ravindra,
The answer is: it depends.
You haven't indicated which standard or version of (EDI) you are talking
about. As you are no doubt aware, there is a DTM segment in X12
standards and there is a DTM segment in EDIFACT standards (at least).
There are three situations I can think of:
1. If it is X12, yes, it is possible for DTM+2 to exist. It's called an
error and should be rejected by a 997 since either the second or third
element is missing.
2. If it is _valid_ X12, then no, DTM+2 should not appear by itself (see
point 1 above).
3. If it is EDIFACT, then yes, it is possible for DTM+2 to exist.
(Although it might not mean anything, the segment definition up through
version D.05B does not require any of the other sub-elements to appear.)
Hope that helps.
Best regards,
Bill Chessman

Subject: [EDI-L] reg qualifier
Hi Group,
Is there any situation in EDI, only the qualifier is present and
the data is absent in a segment?
Example DTM+2
Any help in this regard will be appreciated.
Thanks,
Ravindra.
