What I'm gleaning from this is that the problem isn't that the total is
missing, it's just in a bad format and you want to derive it from the
translator math engine rather than the application engine.

Or do you truly have an application that does not supply totals in their
extract file?  I know there are people who say "That can happen" but I'm
with Phil; if that is the case, it might be time for a new invoicing
package.

How on Earth are you going to be able to reconcile your AR to your invoice
if one package calculates it one way, and another package calculates it
another way?

I have NEVER seen this kind of business logic in a translator.  That's why
they call these programs "translators" and not "calculators."

Unfortunately our AR calculates to 5 decimal points on there 
invoicing, and most customer that recieve EDI invoices only accept 2 
maybe 3 decimals per LIN segment which could throw off the pricing 
on the TDS segment. It's a rounding game.
