Hello Brian: The VLProxy software from CLEO should sit between the firewalls of you company. I use it and it sits in the DMZ area of the firewall with a firewall behind it and one in front of it.
The purpose is that the data that is in your EDI system and the LexiComm software is not encrypted. Data that flows from the LexiComm application to the VLProxy is encrypted. You do not want anything that is open to the outside World where if it was hacked that the data that it containes could be viewed. It is my understanding that the VLProxy is just making the connections and the data is handed off as packets to the proxy software and it is sent on. Good Morning, I will start by introducing myself, my name is Brian Lambertz and I have been working in the EDI field for just over a year. I work for a company based in North Dakota called Dakota Growers Pasta, and I work out of the Minneapolis office. We have recently purchased an upgrade from Cleo Communications that took out AS2 software from Lexicom to VLTrader. A new feature that was included with VLTrader is VLProxy, which resides in the DMZ outside the firewall and allows the VLTrader software to manage the AS2 access, rather then opening our firewall for each new partner. Does anyone in this group have any experience with VLProxy? Are there any positives or negatives to managing AS2 connections through a proxy?
