You might be able to save yourself some time by asking the VAN that's doing the translating. Depends on the VAN, of course. I had a similar situation, and the trading partner could not find anything wrong with our documents either, nor could they do anything about the "E" in the 997and our documents were accepted and posted to the ERP without problems.
