Yes, I would totally agree.   TextPad is simple to use and feature rich... it 
has everything one would need for working with EDI data.   I highly recommend 
it, and is my personal preference.   You can download and test it as 
trialware.. so it will cost nothing to see if it works for you.

  I use TextPad and love it, I have macros set so I can remove segment
  terminators and insert line feeds so I can easily view the data. I can
  edit a transaction and have TextPad count the segments for me to get the
  correct count for the CTT segment every time. I have tried Ultra Edit
  and it is a very good product but my preference is TextPad. I can do
  everything Ultra Edit can do and more.
