We have some clients who prepare ASN's ahead of the pick/pack process and some that do the scanning of the items as they are packed. The holy grail of ASN preparation is: if we have an accurate inventory, if we know the size of the items to be packed, if we know the size of the boxes to be used, then just let the computer calculate the packing instructions and the associated labels and Bob's your uncle. The real world makes this system fraught with peril but it can sure save a ton of time. -Paul www.icefan.ca

Where EDI 850s are used to build the ASN & possibly the invoice, and users must remove line items or quantities not shipped to "sync" the ASN & Invoice with the actual order- if modified. It's a terrible process- but we can't all have the best stuff. ;) Travis- -----Original Message----- From: Michael Mattias/LS [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] <mailto:mcmlserve%40talsystems.com> s.com] Sent: Tuesday, January 30, 2007 9:07 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] <mailto:EDI-L%40yahoogroups.com> com Subject: Re: [EDI-L] Re: Reducing/eliminating our EDI VAN -AS2 Certification 1/30/07 >God forbid the ASN is ready and you ship short..
