I've worked with a fair number of EDI translation solutions, VANs, and VAN alternatives, over my sordid career. My paycheck right now comes from working with a company that uses Invois BizManager (the suite of stuff that includes BizLink, BizConnect, etc.) and we deal with Inovisworks exclusively for our partners that are VANcentric.
I don't think you'll find a good review service like Consumer Reports for EDI-land, but you can find a decent amount of opinions from lists like this with the right questions. Be prepared as salesguys watch these lists too. I like some of the support features in the Inovisworks website that seem like cleaner implementations of some of the same features I have found in competitor VAN webportals. If you're shopping around for VANs, you should play the field as much as possible, get quotes from several and find what would be the right fit for you. Most VANs pretty much do the same thing now-a-days, don't let them try to fool you otherwise with flowery language. As with every EDI translation software I've encountered, there are things that annoy me about them, and things I love about them. I'm not sure what you use for your current EDI solution, but for the uninitiated - the Mapper tool for BizManager can be a large learning curve. Most activity can be handled using a simplistic programatical language on the individual data links, but more complex activites require a grasp of their quasi-javascript based scripting language. We're using version 3.0.2 and I believe they just released version 3.1 a month ago. I've been too busy to fight any upgrade battles right now (and am not a big fan of bleeding edge software), but I hear that the most recent version will fix some of my most serious annoyances with the software. Data transformations are not so good in my opinion, but their communications and file handling aspects are pretty decent. My support requests are usually answered faster than they promise (they have a sliding scale where the user weighs their interpretation of the problem and they have guidelines of when they will get back to you). Although answered quickly, the answers are not always to my satisfaction. --- In [email protected], "Steve Moses" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > All, > Does anyone have anything positive or negative to say about these > products/services and Inovis as a company (Support) ? > We are looking to upgrade, were originally steered towards TLE but now > more towards BusinessLink. > > Also, can anyone provide links to review/comparisons of major EDI > translator/mapper software ? > > Thanks in advance. > Steve > > > [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] > ...
