Can't help you with the IDOC thing, but as far as "if you have maps (and
presumably the type trees used therein)..""

You should be able to open all existing maps, type tree and database
definition files with the newer version of Mercator/DSTX/whatever and the
software will effect any conversion required as well as save the prior
version with its own file extension (documented in help).

That said, I would test very carefully, since I have never been thru a
version upgrade in which "something" didn't change.  The release notes are
usually pretty extensive, but for some reason I've never found them terribly
useful, since it seems almost all the bug fixes are for one or more obscure
components or I-O adapters.

I also remember one of the version upgrade notes said (and I have to
paraphrase) that "all existing compiled maps should execute without
recompilation under the new runtime;"  but then about a paragraph later
said,  "we recommend you recompile all maps."  Go figger.
