Our customers customarily send the remittance information to the bank and the bank in turn forwards that information to us. We have a job that runs (the standard SAP job) which takes the lockbox transmission and automatically applies the money to the appropriate invoice. We now have a customer who would like to send the remittance advice (820) directly to us instead of the bank. So the process going forward will be to receive the remittance information from the customer 2 days prior to the lockbox. The advice would include all information regarding what invoices they will be paying for, the amounts, any deductions, etc. We would like to pass that into SAP and hold it so that when the lockbox transmission comes from the bank (which would now only have the amount and no detail information) we could match the funds in the lockbox transmission with the details sent to us in the remittance advice and automatically apply the money to the correct invoice. We have been able to map the EDI remittance advice into SAP (IDOC-PEXR2002), but now need to know how to do the matching process, both automatic application and manual application of funds, within SAP. We believe this should be standard SAP functionality, but just can't seem to put our finger on exactly what that is. Any help would be greatly appreciated...
